In the competition for a nice job, I won out largely based upon one interview Q & A (with one follow up).

Q. How do you deal with ethical dilemmas that come up in [x]?

A. In my experience, true ethical dilemmas are rare, to the point of essentially nonexistant. What generally presents itself as an "ethical dilemma" is a situation where doing the right thing has what appears to be unpleasant consequences and there is a wrong alternative that looks like it might be less painful.

Q. What do you do then?

A. I bite the bullet and do the right thing.

Discernment is somewhat that way, you have to be willing to do that thing that is painful but which Scripture tels you is the way God wants it.
